2.5 to 17.5 cents per Connecticut mile, by gross weight, filed quarterly. Like Kentucky, you file even in quarters you never entered the state.
Who needs it
Trucks at 26,000 lbs gross weight or more, classes 8 to 13, running on Connecticut roads, whether you deliver there or only cross on I-84 or I-95.
How you get it
Register for a Highway Use Fee permit with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, then file a return every quarter on the miles you ran in the state. The rate rises with weight, from 2.5 cents a mile at 26,000 to 28,000 lbs to 17.5 cents a mile over 80,000 lbs.
The part that catches people
The return is due every quarter once you are registered, including quarters with no Connecticut miles at all.
